There is something quite compelling about this piece. It draws the eye but the eye doesn't quite know what to do with what it sees. My wife called it "a bit of a kludge" and I do think its inelegance, for want of a better expression, adds to, rather than detracts from, the effect of the piece. I like it.
It is amazing how so much can be conveyed in a certain stance. Just the slight lean to the figure says so much. At least, to me. I really like this. Background, especially.
